Residential HVAC Service Technician

Reports To: Residential Field Supervisor 

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: Full time 

Position Summary:

Residential HVAC Service Technicians maintain and repair HVAC equipment and assists with customer queries. 

Essential Functions:

  • Troubleshoots HVAC equipment to build comfort and energy efficiency. Diagnoses problems and presents those findings and options to the customer, providing advice as needed/requested
  • Provides the customer with information and pricing on service agreements, accessories, and other improvements and collect for all work performed
  • Performs equipment installations as needed to ensure complete customer satisfaction
  • Keeps clean equipment/work area and maintain truck inventory while keeping assigned service vehicles organized and clean while alerting management when repairs are needed
  • Brazes, solders, and welds as required

Competencies: 

  • Complete knowledge of all tools, equipment and materials needed to perform service on residential HVAC systems and all codes governing those services 
  • Exhibits an in-depth knowledge and understanding of HVAC and refrigeration systems
  • Has the ability to read, interpret, utilize and train on manuals, schematics and control circuits related to HVAC and refrigeration systems
  • Technical aptitude with knowledge of local codes and an ability to use resources at hand to find solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; and strong conflict management skills
  • Detail oriented and highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments
  • Good computer skills: knowledge of and proficiency in common office applications such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook and general software navigation
     

Position Requirements:

  • Experience in residential HVAC/R installation, maintenance or service is required. 
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required  
  • EPA certification is required.  
  • Work Ready Certificate is preferred. 
  • NATE certification preferred.  
  • A valid driver's license and ability to pass Motor Vehicle Check 

 

Physical Demands: Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Stand for long periods of time. Bend or twist the body. Kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to routinely lift up to 50-100 lbs.
